"The Big Night Off" Ladies Event

Ramada Plaza, Wrexham

Wednesday 23rd October 2013 ​

The new PTA's first event of 2013/2014 went of with a bang! With some amazing stalls, therapies, pamper treatments, fabulous goodies & an amazing Grand Prize Raffle the ladies event was one not to be missed.
We are proud to announce we raised £2674 from the event & with some amazing feedback from the event will be sure to make this an annual event.

Funds raised will be pushed towards boosting IT in the school for all children to utilise & also improve outdoor areas.

 

Thank you so much to all who took part, helped out & came along to be part of a fantastic fundraising event.

Children's Christmas Movie Night

Thursday 12th December 2013​

​

Bringing something new to the school for the children to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.

A Christmas Movie Night within the safety of the school halls has been arranged. Children will enjoy an age appropriate Christmas Themed movie with friends.

 

Infants 5pm-6.15pm Infant Hall

Infant Movie - Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

Juniors 6-7.30pm Junior Hall - Junior Movie The Rise of the Guardians

 

£2 ticket fee will include drink & crisps.

Thanks to all those who came along to enjoy our first Movie Night, hopefully the children really enjoyed it, I know we all did.

 

We have managed to raise £278 from the Infants & Juniors Movie nights together.

 

Yellow Moon Craft Supplier Catalogues

December 2013 & ongoing throughout the academic year

​Some of you may already be aware of the fantastic online craft supplier Yellow Moon, we are pleased to announce that Acton Park Primary PTA are working in conjunction with them to raise funds for your school.


Free Catalogues will be coming home with each child the week of November 18th 2013. Please have a look through the catalogue at the fabulous craft, educational & gift ideas Yellow Moon have to offer.

 

Please DO NOT feel forced to make purchases from the catalogue or online, however all that we ask is that if you do infact want to purchase you will notice that your catalogue has a unique school code on the front. Should you chose to purchase from Yellow Moon directly you will be urged to use the unique code to ensure the school then receive up to 20% cashback on purchases. The school/PTA then receive funds twice a year from Yellow Moon reflective of the purchases made by parents using the school code & those funds will be utilised to aid your childs time in Acton Park Primary School.

 

All purchases are made directly via Yellow Moon, NOT the School. Either online, by phone or fax & you pay Yellow Moon direct as you would with any other catalogue or online purchase, then your purchase is sent directly to your home address (or delivery address). SIMPLE! :)

Manchester Christmas Markets

Coach Trip

Saturday 7th December 2013

 

There’s nothing worse than the hassle of driving in busy pre-Christmas traffic to one of our countries biggest cities & then worse still finding & paying for parking when you eventually get there.

 

So why not book your place on our Christmas Shopping Coach?

Leaving the school at 8.45am & departing 6.30pm.

Adult £10 per seat

Children £8.50 per seat (& must be accompanied by an adult)

 

Information letters have been sent out from school with each child, please return your booking slip & money to school no later than Wednesday 27th November or contact us via this site for further details or tickets. Tickets will be distributed via children the week of the 2nd Decmber 2013.

 

Huge congratulations to Sue Butcher for the planning & organisation of the Manchester Markets Christmas Coach Trip on Saturday. By all accounts it was a fantastic trip & plenty of fun was had by all with lots of spending & Christmas merriment involved!
 
The trip managed to raise £151 from the coach ticket sales & a further £36 on a small raffle that took place en route to Manchester!
 
Thanks to all who purchased tickets & joined in on the trip & hopefully we can look to roll this out annually.

 

Christmas Raffle

The decision this year has been taken to not hold a school Christmas fair. We hope that you can understand that as a PTA such a potentially controversial decision was not taken lightly. However the decision was made based on the late date at which the new PTA was formed this year leaving us little time to bring you a bigger & better version of the usual Christmas Fair. We want all our events to stir interest & leave you feeling that the effort put into it has you excited for the next event ahead. The decision has been made therefore for this year to bring the children a 'Christmas Movie Night' instead to enjoy & remember. The children will still have the opportunity to see Santa at their school Christmas parties & will be having Christmas crafts sent home with them at no cost. We look forward to next year when we can look to offer you a fabulous Christmas Bazaar full of Christmas spirit!

 

We will still be holding a Christmas Raffle & ticket books will be sent home with children as usual in the coming weeks, selling at 20p per ticket or £1 per book. Tickets will also be sold at the Infant & Junior Concerts throughout December & on the Manchester Christmas Markets coaches. The draw will now take place on the 17th December & prize winners will be notified.

The Christmas raffle has raised £338 in total. Thank you to all who purchased tickets & supported the event & congratulations to all winners. Names or winners & prizes can be found on the "Competitions" link.

 

 

Always coming up with fresh ideas ....

​2014-onwards

​

It will very soon be onwards & upwards to the 2014 part of this academic year & so to new & fresh PTA ideas & events.

We are always looking for volunteers & new PTA members who can bring enthusiasm & effort to the table.

 

If you feel you can offer even just a little time to any forthcoming events please do get in touch, we don't expect you to be all singing, all dancing or even be able to offer hour upon hour of your time we just ask that you bring a willingness to try so that your children & the children of Acton Park Primary will benefit from funds raised & look back at their time at the school with fond memories of the events they got to participate in & the fabulous tools they were given as a result of funds raised.

Christmas Colouring & Creative Writing Competition

Deadline 9th December

in school assemblies 13th December

A slight change to the usual Christmas Cup decorating this year.

 

The Infant Department - Nursery - Year 2 inclusive will be given the opportunity to take part in a colouring competition.

 

The Juniors Year 3 - Year 6 inclusive will be able to get their Christmas creative juices flowing in a Creative Writing/Poetry competition with the title;

"'Twas the night before Christmas & all through Acton Park Primary ..."

 

Deadline for entries is Monday 9th December

£1 per entry.

 

Many lovely prizes to be won!!!!

The school catering staff will be judging the Infant entries.

Mrs Kristy Mostyn will be judging the Junior entries.

 

The competitions have managed to raise £81 in total across the Infant & Junior departments.
